The way I understand it, personal property is what you get from what you earn from your own labours. (Clothes, a house, books, things like that)
Private Property is what you get from exploiting others (like land rights or factories)

SO if I work my ass off to buy the right to small plot of land to build and raise a family, which is it?

Private property. Your house, I would personally argue, is personal property, but the land it is built on is private property.
