It's not what is popular it is the why that determines truth value to me.

Hypothetical: In ten thousand years' time, christianity is just as dead as those past religions. You go there in a time machine. Do you then conclude, as you have with these past gods, that your god must not be real as he's ceased to be worshiped, or do you continue to believe?

I guess it would depend heavily on why Christianity is dead.

If it's the former, there's clearly no factual basis to your worship now, just popularity. If it's the latter, you've discarded your own argument and fallen victim to special pleading.

Or option 3 Christianity will be gone because we have used up ALL of the resources of this planet and we have moved on or we are extinct.

Option 4 in 10,000 years time man blew himself up or the zombies came and wiped everyone out and God started over again, or even a few different times, and we are not up to the Christianity part of this reboot. (Kinda hard to expect next gen from Abrams when he is still working through TOS)

Option 5 (this is the one I see) in a hundred years christianity continues to shun 'science' to the point where our kids are made to choose between a philosophy that brings them inter webs, cellular telephones, the face books, and puts chinamen on the moon. Verses something faith based that takes a life time to work through. (They are taught to expect everything now, and do not have the tools or inclination to put the time in.) unless we change modern Christianity will become like the Quakers, Amish, al quida, Hasidic Jews etc.. A people frozen in time.

Then it will be up to God to decide whether or not the cup of mans enquiry has been filled. If so, then we will be well past the second coming in 10,000 years.

That is why I work on things like my evolution/creationism thread. If we can maintain the church there is hope for man. Like with sodom and glamorah even if there are just a hand full of 'good men' God will spare the rest. Kill of the church, and we will see who is right rather quickly.
