I wasted a lot of time on it, and also money putting myself through 3 years of seminary and working a few more years for low pay as pastor of a little church. Then I never got back into professional work; it was all scrabbling for manual labor.
While I wasn't a 'hateful' Christian type, I can't help but think how much time I've wasted. I can't get those years back, everyone. It's hard knowing that, sometimes.
I'm retired now (age 73) and mostly I'm comfortable enough with Canada Pension, but I sometimes think if it weren't for that stupid detour into the ministry, I could afford to travel to Europe.
I'm sorry you feel too like you've wasted time. Maybe we didn't, though. Maybe it was necessary in a way -- I don't know. Every experience, there's a lesson to be gleaned.
I keep telling myself this, anyway. :p
