Higher level animals display a range of emotions, including love and hate. Could those animals survive if they only had one emotion, such as love? How would they be able to kill their food if they were just restricted to the one emotion of love?
If humans only had the one emotion called love would it make them even more insane than most of them are now? Being able to experience and cope with the full range of emotions helps to maintain an animal's mental health.
