What goes well with peanut butter in a sandwich?

I can't understand the fascination that PBI has over Americans... mean, it's good and all, but to use it on all sandwiches? Meh...too sticky.
I usually go for ham and cheese in between two slices of bread.
The ham is usually more like chorizo and the cheese comes in slices (edam style).

Banana with cheese is also a very pleasing combination.
Almost as good as melon and jamon (I think you call it pork jerky)
