His view is that they are a health risk in the wrong hands. His leftist tendencies are irrelevant. Give me a situation where openly carrying an assault rifle or any military-grade weapon is a good idea or actually deters crime. If that was the case, then all of America's police force would carry the same. From what i understand, a concealed handgun has much more potential as a violent crime deterrent. So, what exactly is it about his leftist views that you don't like? He has a legitimate concern, but it seems your own right agenda is getting in the way of understanding that.

When they make a succinct point, yes. People are more inclined to listen to comedians in some cases, so it becomes the perfect medium to get information out.
Logic fail. Opinion is neither proof nor evidence.

It would be funny if it weren't so fatal.
We have road laws to curb the death toll due to automobile accidents; gun laws and restrictions on carrying and owning simply make sense for the same reason. A lot of sense.
How's that working out?
In 2012, there were 34,080 traffic fatalities in the U.S.

Correlation does not equal causation. Come, say it with me.
You can, but you have to keep it in a gun safe, shit like that.
But by the same token, gun ownership is not really a big deal for us.
The U.S. is not homogeneous regarding firearm regulation, so your generalizations are off the mark. There are 51+ sets of laws and regulations - federal, 50 states, and various local ordinances.
Where I live, for instance, the local police must approve a license application, a safety course is required, and state and federal background background checks are done. Gun safes and/or gun locks are required for every gun.
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
