I don't want either. I'd like to live forever if the world stayed largely the same... But it won't. I also don't want to die because I always want to know what happens next and death means never knowing what will happen next. It's selfish, but there you go.
Living forever would be a hellish experience after everyone else had died off and I was the last person left. What if we never develop the technology to get off this rock and I am still here when the sun explodes? (assuming I'm indestructible as well as immortal) will I just float around space alone for billions of years with nothing to do, nothing to eat, nothing to drink, nothing to breathe? What if I end up on another planet after floating around for a few million years and there's nothing there? No life and no way out and I'm just trapped there until it's star explodes and I go through it all again? Or what if I end up on an inhabited planet? What would they do to me, an insane immortal alien?
What happens if or when the universe finally dies?
Death seems a lot less scary than immortality when you consider this shit.
