Christians aren't being illogical in the context of the opening post if they still believe that God speaks to people.
Hearing from what is interpreted as 'other' isn't limited to God. There are people who believe they hear from spirit guides or their Higher Self etc.

The interesting thing is when humans hear back from whatever they think they're talking to. The brain works in mysterious ways and that branch of science which studies religious experiences is still looking into it.

The answers do come from people's own heads, of course, but which part of the brain is producing the answers? Science is discovering that what we think of as consciousness is only the tip of a very big iceberg.
