The Purpose Of Religion

That's basically common knowledge. This person was born into royalty because god wanted him there. That person was born into poverty for the same reason. Play the hand you're given (slaves obey your masters), and you'll be rewarded in the next life. Religion is all about control.

I can still remember singing All Things Bright and Beautiful in morning assembly but, for some strange reason, they seem to have ditched this verse from it now -

The rich man in his castle,
The poor man at his gate,
God made them high and lowly,
And ordered their estate.
