Gawker often will link to racist and homophobic tweets when something like this happens, and many of those messages are quickly taken down, because modern knuckle-draggers are becoming acutely aware that the world at large doesn't agree with their opinions. Others either double-down or try to defend themselves and simply wind up in a deeper hole.
