On thing I consider, is that prior to Jesus fulfilling the pattern and prophecy of the sacrifice lambs in His own flesh - all His words were to Old Testament people who were under the law.
The New Covenant began some point after He declared, "It is finished".
Thus, there may have also been a change in the application of that red line of God that you are thinking about.

I do know there are testimonies of people who were just as filled with reviling as some here, and God pursued them and welcomed them to Himself just as relentlessly as those who had respect ,when they turned to Him also.
