This was the god of an insignificant little shithole of a country surrounded by enemy states. This 'god' is meant to be a warning to them (My god will fuck you up!) and also reassurance to the citizenry (look, how 'god' helped us out as long as we obey his laws.)

This shit is mere propaganda.
