Is atheism a belief system in someway?

Sound like the same thing to me, although I've never heard of an agnostic atheist.

Technically, most atheists are agnostic atheists.
Gnostic atheists, while they do exist, are a rare breed.

I've just never heard of the term, granted I have never really talked to other atheists until two days ago really. I've always just used the broad term atheist. That makes sense.
