When you look at the night sky you can plainly see that the Milky Way is at a different angle to our system. If we were an integral part of an arm of the Milky Way we would see things a lot different. But because we are in transit through the Milky Way we see it at the angle that we do instead of Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy. If we had another 100-200 million years it would be obvious.
