Depending on how much better it makes the youtube experience, and how well it's advertised on the site: i can see them making money. Heck, apparently people here liked my video (though I for the most part <insert depression statements here>)... and if I ever intended to occasionally post videos, I'd certainly shell out a bit more for a revert to an older (and better) version
The internet has long had a culture of free as in speech and free as in beer. Any attempt to get users to 'pay' for many sites and services usually culminates in the death of said service, along with mushrooming of prospective sites to offer a service with minimal or no apparent charge to the user (Note the word apparent).
