Perhaps over in Europe that is how it is, but over here in America, where secularism is being viciously opposed, they tend to double-down on the hellfire and damnation when they feel threatened. Here, telling someone their father is going to hell is considered just being a good Christian, and if that offends you, they tell you to take it up with god.
America is the land where a delusional, stone-age mentality is revered, and spouting religious nonsense is your duty.
