Fair play to the man. I can't recall who the last self-professed atheist leader of one of the major parties was.
Should he ever become Prime Minister it would test his resolve...all those state occasions involving the church. I hope he would suitably display his atheism, but I won't be banking on it.
Tony Blair annoyed me intensely over everything, but especially his faith, about which he remained extremely coy, realising no doubt that having a religious zealot as Prime Minister was no vote winner. ( If you remember he famously said in interview that another voice i.e. god's endorsed the Iraq invasion.)
