Try to explain to him that atheism should be the default position, or the null-hypothesis. To the contrary, it's HE that needs a reason to be a Christian!

Name me one believer now or ever that isn't looking for an excuse to believe? Theist confuse excuses to believe for evidence.

Appeal to emotion and tradition are lousy reasons to hold a position.
