As with all three of the Abraham religions. It is called cherry picking. Focus on the pretty stories and skip over the nasty parts.
The only way people swallow that crap is by ignoring the the fact that this god is immovable, you cannot vote him out of his position, you cannot change his laws, you must obey, you have no consent. He promises you a utopia if you become his gang minion, which is why people cherry pick, because they want that fictional utopia.
By the way, it was not "revealed" at all. It is a complete spin off of Christianity which is a spin off of Hebrew, which is a spin off of the Canaanite polytheism. Humans make up gods and concoct holy books. There is no such thing as a god.
