I can see this is a heated topic. O.O
Both sides, so far, have good points, though.
I believe the intent of the law is to stop illegal smuggling. Are they choosing the best alternative? Probably not. But if it gets results I don't really care. As I explained to Adrian, if I were living in a foreign country(like America) with people who had darker skin (I say that because I'm super pale), and people with my color skin from my original country were smuggling into it, I'd be totally compliant and understanding of their suspicions and see it only as precautionary and to keep the country under control. Not only that, but I'd keep my papers on me all the time.
So far, the only people I can see this affecting are:
1. People who are illegal immigrants
2. People who don't want to carry their papers around all the time
3. People who have illegal immigrants as relatives.
Other than that the only hassle I see is irritation at being asked for papers. :/
Of course racial profiling is wrong. I don't like it when people are judged by their skin color or what they wear. And I'm not for this bill, I'm just not against it either. Dx
