If I were you I would call the Realty service who sold it. Those guys know a lot. You could even call a random property manager and appeal to them for an answer.
There's gotta be some sort of Renters association you can ask, no? Like a better business bureau for renters?
Eta: Convicting you is a process. I think it costs money. The original owner can't evict you because he no longer owns it. I'd worry about paying the property owner, then tell the original landlord to collect from them if he feels he's owed money.

If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

I say again: No exceptions. Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it. As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.
