I do agree, however, that the president has become too powerful of a position.
It has but mainly because the country is trying to govern itself by a 225+ year old document which was written for a white-male agrarian nation and which has been jury-rigged repeatedly in an effort to keep the old horse wheezing along.
On the one hand we need a constitutional re-write but on the other hand can you imagine what a despicable piece of shit would emerge from the pens of these republibertarianeo-conazi bastards?
