In all seriousness gene roddenberry lost his fucking mind at some point in the seventies and called for really weird things in the writing that realy tied the writers hands. Hence tng got better when they got him out of the picture. One of Roddenberry's devices was wesley crusher. I see what they were going for there, but Micheal pillar made a much more relatable and realistic character in jake sisko.
