We were questioned at length before our first was born (we didn't know the sex yet) but we weren't pressured either way.

Yeah, they just kept handing me pieces of paper asking me whether or not I wanted my sons snipped - I think I signed about 20 all told between the two. By the last few times they asked the question (I was starting to wonder how often fuckups occurred) I felt like telling them that the next time someone asked me whether or not I wanted my sons cut I would cut the questioner -on the spot-. Thankfully my wife has a more gentle demeanor than I and so she just took over from there.

This confuses me, why do they ask that? I'm not sure about Europe, I don't know if it's legal to circumcise your newborn, but even if it is in some states, you need to require it specifically, otherwise doctors will just assume you want your son with a 'natural looking' penis.
