Wrong on all counts. Reason may or may not lead towards God. And religion encourages more thinking than ontological naturalism.

I disagree as a former atheist.

I think you're confusing atheism with apatheism. While there is no doctrine for atheism, it's usually arrived at through critical thinking. As for any religion, it does encourage thinking. Just not free thinking.
