Quote:I can't... are you honestly this stupid? You blame the state government for the misinformation in the textbooks, but somehow, in some miracle of ignorance, manage to skip over the part where the government, in this instance, is filled with fundamentalist christians attempting to use their power to promote falsehoods in direct opposition to the law of the land?
Are you even thinking at all before you disagree?
I have little love for the United States or Americans, while I was in school I mostly taught myself, after I graduated I had to reteach myself many of the things my school had taught me, especially on patriotism and history. So I really don't care what Americans teach themselves, if they want to throw religion in on top of all the other garbage they teach themselves I honestly don't think it would make that much of a difference in their overall intellectual capabilities.
You really don't know how much of a failure the education system is do you? Not only for America but Europe as well. This is your own fault for allowing private interest groups to control your politics.
Quote:Jesus, in his own words, did not come to abolish the old laws, many of which detail the ways in which unbelievers are to be killed. Jesus also introduced the concept of hell, as a place where unbelievers go, and I humbly suggest that "you should be tortured for eternity for your beliefs," is a much, much more insulting statement than "your beliefs are stupid."
I don't believe in hell so I can that insult me?
Quote:But since it's coming from religion, and you're a theist pretending to be atheist as though we can't see through it, you're blind to that. And if, on the off chance, you actually are an atheist, then your stance is entirely inconsistent and completely nonsensical, and you should feel bad.
Or perhaps I've just grown to tolerate religion far more than you have?
Quote:All fifty pages of it, eh?![]()
So in the previous paragraph you said there wasn't any biblical orders to kill atheists, and then in the next you say we deserve it? Contradiction!
Was there much atheism of any sort back when the old testament was written? Because, you know, there would need to be, for your statement here to make any kind of sense chronologically...
I don't think I said there weren't any, just that I didn't know of any.
Quote:Incidentally, are you suggesting that threats of violence are an appropriate response to insults?
That's usually how humans operate. Threats and Insults go hand in hand you know? Religion aside.
Quote:You have exactly the same reason as your purported reason for condemning atheism. Insults abound on both sides, only the theists are the only ones calling for violence, so it's literally worse on their end. To come here and pretend we're doing anything much at all is pure hypocrisy.
Threats usually come after when the opposing side has nothing to back their argument up.
Quote:More poisoning the well. For a supposed atheist you sure do take a lot of pages from the creationist playbook. Hey, next tell us that science is just a theory!
The Big Bang is certainly just a theory, it ties in to nicely to religion, and I'm much more a fan of the Static Universe Theory.
Quote:Don't you think it's a bit simplistic to say that there's only one problem?
Oh right, this is just about being a deep cover theist, not about actually saying anything cogent. I forgot for a second.
Okay let me explain to you what is going on.
This is an atheist arguing with a theist about religion.

Meanwhile in Africa, South America, and Asia Billions of people are subjugated to a life of poverty and near starvation to make Capitalism work in first world countries. Capitalism is the problem, Communism is not much better.

Already posted it, like I thought it took certain pieces while leaving out the rest the explained what the cause was.

That may be so, but what, other than religion, does a better job of collecting delusional people en masse under one cause? One delusional atheist may commit murder, but where is his/her army?
Democracy, possibly the most vile form of government that ever existed.
