Ryan, you cannot go beyond what is given. We are not God.
I'll tell you a bit about what I have learned- you cannot believe God for that which He does not give you reason or permission to believe for.
When I need something, I find the place where God encourages or gives me permission to believe for that thing.
This is my foundation for faith.
Here is an example: There is a promise in the OT for us to have quiet resting places.
I was being driven nuts by the rock band practicing ever Tuesday night.
I asked them to dampen the drum sound that was coming thru my walls 300 ft. away.
They adamantly refused. I reminded the Lord that we were to have quiet resting places- to no avail.
Finally, I decided if God was not going to do something- I was.
I spoke to the garage they were in, I called it "Noise free" in Jesus' name.
Many times I went by in my car, and said, "Rock band - you are GONE from my neighborhood. Dematerialized and vanished (many such words) I had a peace about it though.
Jesus said, "If you speak to this mountain, and do not doubt in your heart, but believe those things you say will come to pass- you will HAVE what you say".
In a while, the band was gone.
They were gone for about a year.
I thought- OH NO. I am not putting up with this again.
I was incensed. I decided to "Bind" these guys from being in there.
I commanded that they would find no work anywhere near here- only far far away.
After awhile, I had a peace and I perceived the Lord saying be patient.
They will be gone and NEVER come back. Which is exactly what happened.
This was about 28 years ago.
I have been cutting the grass for several years along the road for the old guy (who built the garage to get the band out of his basement).
Of course this is all co-incidence.
Later I'll tell you the dog story. Which I got rebuked for by some Church folk.
I have to say good night now (my wife is interested in something interesting)
