It takes a period of time (classes) for one to go through before being permitted to partake of all the "sacraments" of the Catholic faith. So, once one decides to go down that path of conversion, you have to enroll in classes and once you're done, you are confirmed and a part of the RCC. Til then, the RCC views you as a non-Catholic.
