Well, depends on the demon, and how it got into your plane. Expelling (say, exorcism) is cute, but it takes a very long time, and an exactitude few are capable of. It is a demon summoned? You mar the symbol of binding, and it'll be out of your world in a jiffy. Bonus points in humiliation if you do this with a jar of Jiffy™.
These are not easy to manage for the populace. You could consider "holy water", but it will only work if you're faith burns from within you... and I would recommend direct blood contact from the faithful. Hurts like all hell.
Is it a demon native to your plane? Afraid you're gonna have to go physical for that one, but the plus side is that you can actually kill it. As in dead. Super dead. More fun than simply banishing it.
One thing you have to remember, is that demons do not care *what* faith is bringing them down... are you a super self-confident arrogant prick who believes in himself when facing an "obviously superior" demon? Congratulations, you've met the bar to faith. Good luck, you no-talent-wannabe-badass
