Ok so the term 'fundamentalist' actually refers to a wide variety of behaviour and movements in given contexts beyond the term you cite above.
But for sake of argument, let me just agree with you and say that, instead of fundamentalists, let's say extremists? And let's lump all the aforementioned behaviors and stories under that term and all go home happy knowing you were wrong.
