And why should I obey any of the commandments you propose?

For the same reason you would obey any other unenforceable moral strictures, because they are good in and of themselves. Should you disagree with them, you won't abide by them.

So far the above appear better than the originals particularly better than these:

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
