Supposedly my grandmother reads her bible all the time, and there are people who read it cover to cover, yet still don't realize the contradictions and other errors. Like G-C, they start with the conclusion that Yahweh is always right, and if anything seems wrong it's because you misinterpreted it, or just couldn't see the big picture.
Which goes in line with the social psychological principle of commitment and consistency (Cialdini, 2003).
