Rape is a particularly heinous crime meriting particular heinous punishment. In NO case should a mob determine that punishment.
Whether he committed this rape or not, Hyland has only been charged, not convicted (though I admit to not fancying his chances in court). The public and those semi-savages, the paras, are 'baying for the blood' of a man who, as of this moment, is innocent of any crime.
When and if he is found guilty, I don't want him turned over to a mob. I want him to spend long, long years in a dank, uncomfortable prison. I want him to be denied civil rights. I want him to pay restitution to his victim. I want him to suffer and suffer and suffer for what he did. But at the hands of the law.
