It's based on nature. There are real differences between the sexes. From your point of view these came about through evolution. If you follow your nature, you're more likely to be happy than if you fight against your nature.

That said, I've also noted that in any discussion of human behavior there are exceptions. But they're exceptions. In general, males will be happier if they're men.
