A similar case in my area several years ago resulted in the family hiring a bulldozer to fill in their pond. They could not look out their window everyday and see that water, it was a continuing heartbreak. I believe there is a little grove of trees on the site now; a small glade, left to become wild and go back to nature with whatever grows there.
