Have you ever taken a bath for long enough that your skin started to wrinkle and get prune-like? That's stage 1. Now, introduce friction to that skin by say, moving it through the water. How long until the top layers start peeling to expose the tender and vulnerable layers beneath? Now how long will it take before that skin meets up with some wandering bacteria?
The 'flood' was supposedly 40 days and 40 nights. I think you'll find the above would happen in considerably less time, but as I've never been inclined to do the experiment nor to torture a dolphin to death to get an exact number, I'm afraid I don't have that information for you.
