I just came across this news story and had to share:

An example of fundamentalist Christians trying to force their fairy tales into schools in Australia.

The funniest part is:

"The scripture teacher told the class that all people were descended from Adam and Eve," he said.

"'My daughter rightly pointed out, as I had been teaching her about DNA and science, that 'wouldn't they all be inbred'?

"But the teacher replied that DNA wasn't invented then."

RI was dropped in Australian state schools when I was a kid and that was almost 40 years ago.

The fact that it has crept back in is rather disturbing.

The teachers at my kids school try to ram religion down my kids throats and we're in england. My ten year old was rounded on by his RE teacher for expressing dis-belief in god as it is a church of england school "if you dont beleive in god why are you at this school?" she bellowed.
My son was not happy, in hind sight I should have berated her.
