And add to that the exaggeration that's bound to happen as the folk tale is passed on orally over the generations. Heck, even now in our modern age with snopes readily available, glurge stories still get passed around the internet. These stories might have been works of fiction or vaguely related to some real event.
This is exactly right! These biblical tales were passed down orally for many generations before they were finally written down. And once they were written down they had to be copied by hand. And the copies were copied.... and those copies were copied.... and then they were translated numerous times before finally being translated into a form of English that we would not understand today. Eventually, it was translated into modern English. So today's Bible is a translation of a translation of a translation of a translation of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of an oral story that was passed down through numerous story tellers. You couldn't have a grocery list go through that many tellings, copies and translations without having some big changes in the dinner menu! And people believe this crap absolutely? Incredible....
Science flies us to the moon and stars. Religion flies us into buildings.
