The -one- thing that I don't like about it, is how blatantly the rules are gamed. I've been watching for years since it was bootleg tapes and long before there was an octagon. I don't know if you guys will have noticed this, but as the rules developed the motion of the fighters started to fall into patterns capable of exploiting those rules.
For example, no punching in the back of the head. -A good rule, not arguing that.
However - notice the proliferation of slow spins where the back of the head is presented for extended periods? They'll even keep their necks winched to keep the rear facing when the rest of their frame is perp.
That shit makes me grind my teeth. Okay Joe, you missed your silly fucking roundhouse - now take the punch to the face that you so richly deserve.
