You might say that, if I believe in god, then god exists within my mind, but that is not the case. If I believed in god, he would only exist as a concept within my mind. That would not make god himself exist independently from me. With emotions, there is no claim that they exist independently of the brain... they are a function of the brain. Those chemical reactions we have named 'emotion' exist.
If nobody else is saying it, then I will: 'God' exists. It would have to for us to be talking of it. It ('God') exists as a number of things, although I do not recognize it to exist as an objective manifestation what created the universe or guides our progress through it.
