Let's not forget that Christianity has retarded the advancement of critical scientific research. Where would we be today with stem cell research if Christianity didn't have the influence it has on our society? It's harder to quantify the lives that could be saved versus the lives that are taken in religious extremist attacks, but I bet it's every bit as impactful, if not more so. Harder, but not impossible. You could look up all the deaths do to disease and lives hampered by injury that could be treated with stem cells to get your quantity.
