Dayspring Bible College and Seminary has never sought regional accreditation. The reason for this is to avoid the possibility of outside pressures changing Dayspring’s theological and doctrinal positions. Dayspring has operated free of governmental oversight or governmentally recognized accreditation since its founding in 1982. This method of operation was a thoughtful and prayerful decision by the Board of Trustees.

The Board took note that accreditation is a voluntary process according to the United States Department of Education. Because Dayspring is a direct ministry of the Quentin Road Bible Baptist Church, and the local church according to Scripture is to be autonomous, the leadership of DBC has elected at this time to not seek the approval of men, but only of God.

A so-called benefit of accreditation does make government money available through grants and loans. It is the practice of Dayspring to teach its students reliance on God to meet their needs. In ministry, the need for sacrifice, hard work, and prayer will be common, and is important to learn in ministry training. It is also a great benefit to not be burdened with debt from student loans upon graduation.

Dayspring operates legally in the State of Illinois as a 501©(3) non-profit organization and outside the prevue of the Illinois Department of Higher Education (Title 23 IL Admin. Code Part 1030) as a religious, non-degree granting institution. Dayspring offers certificate (one year) and diploma (multiyear) programs. These certificates and diplomas are awarded to students who successfully complete their courses of study and are acceptable to most churches and ministries for employment and some colleges.

For Dayspring, and other great schools, the best measurement of the success of the institution is the ministerial success of its graduates. Dayspring has provided excellence in education for over 30 years and hundreds of our graduates are faithfully furthering the cause of Christ around the world because of their training at DBC.

Dayspring Bible College and Seminary makes no representation that it’s graduates will be accepted by specific institutions, it is the goal of the administration to meet and exceed the normative standards of recognized accrediting associations.

"It's sort of a governmental 'ghettoization' of faith-based education by saying, 'You can't tell your students what you think the value of their degree is because you haven't gotten our accreditation,'" said John Mauck, a Chicago lawyer who's representing Dayspring, two other colleges, a student, the Illinois Bible Colleges Association and a Christian civil rights group.
