Wow. This is a really dumb story.
How does it end? Does the "believer" child get to be born and is loved by the mother, while the "skeptical" one is still-born, given up for adoption, or simply thrown in the trash? How does the mother know which one to throw away?
If you were trying to make an analogy to afterlife, then you're saying all belief is inconsequential, since we all end up in the same situation after death. Does that mean I'm going to heaven, with all of you god-bothering thickos? How can I avoid that - please, do tell?
