I have an unpopular opinion about this. Atheism means you don't believe in god. But for atheism to be fully rational you have to reject the supernatural completely. If you don't believe in god but believe in the paranormal/supernatural, you are an atheist, but you are a very peculiar and irrational one

Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you
