Why did he have to kill them at all? Why not just have them become instantly non-existent? Still pretty monstrous behavior, but much more humane than having his 'chosen people' slaughter them, don't you think?
Do me a favor. In your above quoted post, substitute the name 'Kim Jung Un' or 'Hitler' in place of 'God', then read it to yourself. Does the behavior you attribute to your god now sound monstrous to you?

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
