That's like saying to a prolific serial killer on the loose "look, that other serial killer is managing fine without committing any more murders after they threw him in jail, why can't you do the same?"
Um yea, in a utopian world it would be nice if they would simply scrap it entirely. But humans will always be flawed in their perceptions, which is why religion props up. You cant get everything you want in one step. Christianity took forever and a ton of watering down before it gained it's modern civility.
Islam if it was secular like the west, would still contain as it does, bad logic, but it would not have the baggage of far too much barbarity and sexism. The only difference between Islam and Christianity is 200 years of secular common law.
In a perfect world there would be no religion, but we don't live in a perfect world. And even with the label "atheist" we ourselves shouldn't think we are above any range of human behavior. Our behavior is in our evolution, not in the labels we assign ourselves or others. Not even "atheist" is a moral code. It merely means "off" on one claim.
