I'm very sorry to hear what you've been through. I hope your health is better now?
I see religion as a massive ball-and-chain that people are carrying around, but it's visible only to atheists. It makes me very sad, and it's my natural inclination to want to help people, so I try and promote critical thinking. I hope that by using it in regard to their religion, they may at least let go of some of the very worst ideas and lighten that load. I think most people would be better off without it, they just don't realize it. But religion is extremely good at making itself seem essential to believers.
