Ambiguity and "god of the gaps" make for a poor defense of the Bible, is my thought on the matter. If he can grab some vaguely-worded text and apply it to an area of science that is still unclear and declare it the final word, then he has just validated the works of men like Nostradamus and books like the Quran.
