You say that the militarization and thuggery of the Ferguson Police Department overshadows the attempted racial lynching of a white cop? Well, I wouldn't say it overshadows it by much. I think it's really racist to ignore the elephant in the room of black racism and pretend that this is only a white cop problem. There really really really isn't anything different about a black man's mind that prevents him from being just a racist as the grand white wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, so why are so many progressive people afraid to speak fairly of the incident?
I didn't watch much of the protests, but given what I've seen of the videos, the police were ready to bully everyone into submission. I think that they forget that if you need to bully more than 49% of the people, you're always in the wrong in a democracy, and those cops looked ready to bully everyone that wasn't a cop. I do so agree with you that this is a terrible fate that we've let our personal liberties fall so easily to the overzealous.
