The whole point of Cosmos wasn't to capture your wonder. It was for the adolescent who might become the next Michio Kaku or Carl Sagan. Hence the cartoons and the lack of in depth science. It was a primetime show, FFS. They aren't going to do an hour on susy or quantum mechanics.
